The MPCA Judges' Education Committee recently reformated and updated the illustrated breed standard in an effort to improve the MPCA's judges' education material. The MPCA is dedicated to educating both judges and breeders alike. The illustrated standard is divided into sections with a link to each section on the navigation bar on the left. TemperamentAKC STANDARD: Temperament - fearless animantion, complete self- possession, and spirited presence. DISCUSSION: Temperament is an EXTREMELY important part of the Min Pin "package". Min Pins are fearless, active and alert and should show these traits in the ring. Min Pins tend to be curious and active, so may not stand perfectly still in the show ring. As long as a judge can see the outline and breed type of an exhibit, it shouldn't matter that the dog changes positions, or watches things other than its handler. A Min Pin who cringes or slinks around the ring should NOT be rewarded. The tail should be up whether standing or moving; never clamped down. Although a puppy may be a little unsure of itself, this is obviously not the same as an adult who simply does not have the correct outgoing, self-assured temperament of the "King of Toys". DISQUALIFICATIONSAKC STANDARD: DISQUALIFICATIONS Under 10 inches or over 12 1/2 inches in height. Any color other thann listed. Thumb mark (patch of black hair surrounded by rust on the front of the foreleg between the foot and the wrist; on chocolates, the patch is chocolate hair). White on any part of dog which exceeds one-half (1/2) inch in its longest dimension.
